An Alexandria man was killed in a five-vehicle wreck that involved two 18-wheelers. According to KALB, the accident occurred on Interstate 10 at around 5:30 p.m. when one of the truck drivers failed to slow down in congested traffic.
That truck rear-ended a 2006 GMC Sierra driven by 70-year-old Gerald Theriot. The Sierra was pushed off the road, but the tractor-trailer continued forward and collided with a 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by Ronald Allen, 26. Allen’s Impala subsequently crashed into another 18-wheeler. His vehicle was crushed between the two trucks, and all three vehicles were engulfed in flames. Allen was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
This accident is a tragic reminder that collisions with semi-trucks often result in severe injuries and death. Although the exact cause of this crash has not yet been disclosed, driver error was most likely a contributing factor.
