After retirement from the Court of Appeal in 1995, he and his son, David Charles Laborde, formed Laborde Law Firm to protect the rights of personal injury clients in Lafayette, Alexandria and surrounding areas of Louisiana. Since resuming the full time practice of law in 1995, P.J. was appointed to serve as Chief Appellate Judge for the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana.
He also currently serves as the Chief Appellate Judge for the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and Associate Appellate Judge for the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana, a position in which he currently serves. He is licensed to practice before various state and federal courts, and holds membership in various professional, religious, and civic organizations.
