The 2024 program ended on June 15, 2024 and a recipient has been awarded. We do not accept applications at this time. However, we encourage you to check back regularly for future scholarships.
Our legal team was proud to sponsor the scholarship as a way of supporting young scholars. We believe investing in those pursuing their education is one of the best ways to invest in the future.
The Cancer Scholarship amount was $2,500 and the deadline to apply was June 15, 2024.
Eligibility
The Cancer Scholarship is open to all college applicants planning to study medicine, public health, toxicology, or another related field. Eligibility guidelines include:
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
- Being admitted to or currently attending a college or university, or graduate school
- Submitting an essay according to the application requirements
- Using the form on the page to apply
- Applicant agreeing to terms and conditions
The scholarship award goes to the best submission that meets all required guidelines. The award of $2,500 must be used for college-related expenses such as tuition and books.
Application Guidelines
Many people use products that may contain cancer-causing ingredients. We should not be exposed to carcinogens every day and as a result at risk for developing cancer.
Applicants are to write a policy brief to their Congressperson or local politician detailing the gaps in the current policy and why increased regulations will be good for public health.
The length for the submission is 1,000 words. Applicants must submit their essays in PDF format along with their application.
For your policy brief to be eligible please include the following:
- A header where you mention your full name; the name of the scholarship; the name of the institution you are enrolled in; the mailing address from your financial aid office where we can mail the award; the e-mail address and phone number from your financial aid office; the student ID number.
- A catchy and original title.
- A bibliography where you mention all the sources of information used (eg: books, sites; articles, magazines, reports, etc.)
- Citations
Once done, students are advised to save their essays in PDF format and upload them when they submit the application form on this page.

Terms and Conditions
Applicants for the Cancer Scholarship must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student.
Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply:
1. Employees or children of employees of Laborde Earles Injury Lawyers
2. Past recipients of the Cancer Scholarship
3. Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of Laborde Earles Injury Lawyers if he/she were to be awarded the scholarship.
4. Applicants who submit the same essay for multiple scholarships
Scholarship Committee
A scholarship committee will review all applications submitted in the correct manner indicated above. The scholarship committee will select one winner. The scholarship committee may request additional information or updated records from applicants.
The scholarship committee is not responsible for problems with the web page, application form, or any other technical problem that prevents timely submission of an application. The committee’s decision regarding a winner is final.
Privacy Policy
Laborde Earles Injury Lawyers LLC, will not sell, share, or otherwise distribute personal information submitted by any applicant.
Announcement of Scholarship Winner
A representative from Laborde Earles Injury Lawyers LLC will notify the winner of the scholarship via phone or email. The firm reserves the right to publicly post the name and essay, in whole or in part, of the scholarship winner on the Laborde Earles Injury Lawyers LLC website, social media, or via a press release.
